There’s something magical about hitching up your tiny home-on-wheels and pointing it toward the horizon with no concrete plan.
This fall, I set out and drove all the way back to my hometown — just me, my Scamp 13, and the open road.
I knew where I had to be at the very end… but everything between those two points? Totally undecided.
And honestly? That was the best part.
Finding Stillness Between the Miles
Sometimes the road teaches you things you didn’t know you needed to learn.
The trip started like most of mine do — a vague plan, a rough idea of direction, and a craving for open skies. I didn’t have a schedule, just a map scribbled with possibilities and a cooler full of snacks that didn’t require a microwave. Somewhere between the mountains and the miles, I found what I didn’t know I was looking for: stillness.

There’s something about towing a Scamp that slows life down to the right pace. Coffee takes longer, but it tastes better. The air smells different when you’re parked miles from the nearest streetlight. And the worries that feel so loud at home get quieter when all you can hear is wind through the pines and the low hum of your own thoughts. One night, I camped beneath a stretch of sky that looked like spilled sugar — stars on stars on stars. No hookups, no signal, no distractions. Just me, the Scamp, and the sound of the door creaking in the breeze. I watched my breath fog in the cold air and thought about how small the world feels when you let it.

When I filmed this trip, I didn’t set out to make a big travel vlog. I just wanted to capture a feeling — that sweet spot between adventure and rest, where you’re reminded why you chose this life in the first place.
What I Learned
- The best campsites usually aren’t on the map.
- Silence is underrated.
- You don’t need to go far to feel far away.

(and maybe grab a blanket — this one’s cozy) If this story makes you want to hitch up and go — that’s exactly why I share them. The road will always be waiting, and so will I… probably with dirt under my nails and a grin on my face.
Thanks for Riding Along
